Privacy and legal notice
Last updated: 3 November 2026
In short
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, shows no ads and loads nothing from other sites: its fonts and images are served from here. The only personal data I receive is what you choose to send with the feedback form.
Who runs this site
nuva.martinsnuno.com is a personal, non-commercial site that presents NuVa, a free and open-source app. It is run by Nuno Martins, Portugal, who is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: admin@martinsnuno.com.
Visiting the site
The site runs on my own server, rented from Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) in its data centre in Finland, inside the EU. As with any website, your browser sends your IP address and the details of each request to the server, which needs them to answer. The server keeps no access log: no record of who visited or which pages. When something goes wrong, the error log may include the address of the request that failed; it is used only to fix the problem. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The feedback form
- What: your message and, only if you give it, your email address.
- Why: to read your feedback and, if you ask, to answer it.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering people who write to me (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Giving an email address is up to you.
- How: the server passes the message straight on by email, through Google's Gmail, to the contact address above, and keeps no copy. To slow down spam it holds your IP address in memory for up to an hour, never on disk.
- How long: I keep messages for as long as I need them to answer and act on them, and delete them within 12 months.
- I never sell or share your message, and never add your address to a mailing list.
Please don't send sensitive data (health, finances and so on) through the form.
Transfers outside the EU
The site itself stays in the EU. A feedback message travels through Gmail, and Google may process it outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, with the safeguards described in Google's privacy policy. The download button and the GitHub links take you to github.com, under GitHub's privacy statement.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form, by writing to the contact above. You can also complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD, or to the authority where you live.
Cookies and storage
This site stores nothing on your device and reads nothing from it: no cookies, no local storage, no fingerprinting. That is why there is no cookie banner.
The app
NuVa itself has its own terms and privacy notice, also inside the app in NuVa › Terms and Privacy. In short: no account, no analytics, and it only goes online for the services you use.
